November 2013 Ride Report

The November ride for the Taunton group was not planned to be an epic ride in terms of distance however in terms of a social event it was very successful.

We set off from the excellent cafe at the Sandpits Stove Centre in Curry Rivel. There were 8 tandems and one solo. So we cut quite a dash when we headed south via the Somerset levels to Perry's Cider Centre in Dowlish Wake which is just south of the A303. We went through scenic villages such as Muchelney and the autumn colours on a crisp morning reminded us how lucky we are to living in this part of the country. There was quite a bit of inter and intra tandem banter en route, the quiet roads proving to be very convivial. Our hosts for lunch were very obliging and were able to accommodate us and re- fuel us for the return leg via a different route back to Curry Rivel. We were lucky with the weather - no rain but the blue sky seemed to be tantalizingly just over the horizon. We arrived back at almost three o'clock and since we started at about 10.45 and had covered about 27miles, it clearly was a very leisurely lunch.
